Artworks
From form to character. From character to matter.
Epoxy brings together works built through multiple layers of epoxy resin. Transparency, volume, and depth transform the painted surface into a physical presence, where color, gesture, and material remain suspended between layers.
The series began without a defined destination. The initial works emerged as abstract drawings: circles, orbits, structures, and compositions that alluded to space and to forms as yet without an identity. Over time, new colors, rhythms, and recognizable figures appeared. Some works began to lean toward organic forms, others toward images as simple and familiar as a watermelon. But something was still missing. The composition needed a presence. I sought a character that could inhabit these images without imposing an overly specific narrative. I wanted a neutral, almost universal figure—one capable of existing within any combination of color, gesture, or form. Thus, the bear appeared. Its arrival transformed the series. From that moment on, the compositions began to take shape around it. The color, the graphic elements, and the new interventions responded to its position, its expression, and the unique character of each piece. Some of these works seemed to find their definitive form there, and several even began a life outside the studio. Yet, the process continued. Resin was introduced as a way to conclude the transformation—a surface capable of intensifying the color, preserving the underlying layers, and turning the paper into something more physical. In some pieces, however, even the resin was not the end. The incorporation of cement and other materials pushed them even further from their origins on paper, moving them into the realm of objects and wall-mounted sculpture. **Becoming** (*Devenir*) captures this very journey. It does not describe a fixed style, but rather the process through which an image gradually discovers what it needs in order to exist. Each work retains something from those that came before: a shape, a color, a decision, or an intuition. The final result does not negate its origin. It contains it.
